Ondine

I don't know how much you've heard about this Irish movie - it seems to me that it's had quite big introduction in the media but it's hard to get to see it. At least here in Czech Republic: I saw an Ondine poster about three weeks ago and thought it could be interesting, then read a review and I decided to go and watch it. I've seen great reviews on the movie in a lot of magazines and websites and I was becoming more and more eager to see it. All my hopes broke down when I found out that it's almost impossible to find a cinema to see it. Finally I found ONE SINGLE CINEMA IN WHOLE PRAGUE with Ondine in the programm and there were only two presentations! It's a shame, really, because it's a wonderful movie!

The story is about an ex-alcoholic, fisherman called Syracuse (Colin Farrell). He lives alone in a small Irish seaport town, he's divorced and has a daughter who lives with her still drinking mother. One day he catches a beautiful woman (Aicja Bachleda Curus) in his net, seemingly drowned. When she starts to breathe and choke he wants to take her to the doctor but she refuses. For some reason she doesn't want anybody to see her or even know about her and when Syracuse asks her about her name, she says 'You can call me Ondine. That means "She came from the sea"'. He shows her a deserted cottage and there she lives in secret.
Later, Syracuse tells his daughter Annie a story about a fisherman who caught a mysterious woman instead of fish and she recognizes that the story is true. Short after that Annie follows her father to the cottage and meets Ondine. Annie is under the impression that Ondine is a selkie, a seal woman who came to live on land and who can stay for seven years if she finds her seal coat and buries it. It's really hard not to believe it when Ondine swims like a mermaid, sings above the sea and the usually empty nets are full of fish. Whether she is or isn't a selkie, I won't tell you. The end might be shocking in a bit unexpected and strange way but that doesn't change my opinion. If you still have the possibility, watch Ondine. You won't regret!

I'm in love with the pixie haircut (and Emma Watson, like I said so many times) but I'm not brave enough to wear it and as long as my hair is long and quite wavy and the shorter it is, the more curly it becomes, I don't think I'll ever have the guts to cut my hair like that.

Outfit Posts YES or NO

I've been told that I should do more personal style posts. I'm not really sure about that.
Firstly, I've got nobody to take the pictures and I don't like taking pictures of myself. The results are mostly disastrous.
Secondly, I don't even have time to take the photos.
Thirdly, I'm totally unhappy about my figure at the moment.
And fourthly, my closet is full of things but I usually wear only what I think is most comfortable for the day. Or when I like something, I wear it all the time. And I don't own many pieces of designer clothes, in fact, almost no. I'm a H&M, Zara and vintage person.

BUT

I've got some older photos to share with you and I'll do so as the days'll grow colder because they're winter photos. And some of them are a bit crazy.

Sometimes I really wish I could take outfit photos but have no time or courage. I think I'll make outfit posts once a while (a great while maybe?). With a little help from my friends.

Yesterday/today (not sure what the time was) I said goodbye to some of the most beautiful people I've ever met. It was a group of Americans from the state of NY spending here less than two weeks. I haven't cried like that since... never mind. I thought something like that was impossible but I feel like these are the friendships to last forever.

I went to drown my tears to Tretter's Bar Prague. I must say it's really awesome. I f you ever visit Prague, don't forget to stop by!

I'll upload some pictures (not just from the bar) later.

And yes, you guys have no Zara in New York? Is it possible? My American friends say they've never seen Zara but they totally fell in love with it at the moment they entered and wanted to come back (at the time we did so, it was closed already). No wonder ;).

Diane Kruger style

Picture from Lily Sometimes: I read about this movie only the good, it had standing ovations in Cannes, mainly thanks to Ludivine Sagnier (on the left) and Diane Kruger. I really want to see it when it hits Czech theates (if it ever does). But as a right girl I'm always interested in the looks and here I was really surprized how good Diane looks without make-up (they shot the movie without a make-up artist). She's beautiful, obviously, but most stars look absolutely different and far worse than on the red carpet when they don't wear tons of make-up. Bravo, Diane!
Speaking of her, I have to share some photos of her style. She's really one of my favourites. Her red-carpet-style is defined mostly by interesting, sometimes rather complicated mini-dresses. She never fails.

I noticed that half of my posts are apologies for not having time to post. So I don't apologize this time, I'm just here to tell you that I'm not quitting blogging, that I'm only travelling whole the holidays almost without any access to internet. Thank you for your understanding, I suppose I'll be back at the end of August. For now, I want to thank you all for reading, commenting and following. Your thoughts are really inspiring for me.

Eclipse

So I went to see Eclipse yesterday. 

First all what I want to say ;) and then the pictures...I really hadn't known what to expect. I have to apologize to the hardcore fans but I don't really like the book, it seemed to me that nothing happened there. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't, but I must say I liked the film a million times better because every little action was made so good that it didn't come across my mind during the whole movie that it should be boring.

I admit I'd had certain doubts about David Slade. But he made it all as good as possible (except for the love scenes, but let's talk about it later). What I think is that he did the best he could with the book and I mean it wasn't an easy job at all. Of course it's useful when there's not so much action in the book like for example in Harry Potter, because you can hold on it more and don't have to leave out so many things. But the director tried really hard so that people can't get bored.

He showed that he's really a master of vampires (30 Days of Night) and horror scenes. I really liked those where Victoria changed Riley or when Riley tried to control the newborn army. Fight scenes and the retrospective parts are also worth seeing.

What I liked less were the "peaceful" scenes (meaning scenes of love, family, school etc.). It was a bit stupid and awkward sometimes. I know it's caused mostly by Stephenie Meyer. Luckily, Slade made some improvements - for example he added the second Bella and Jacob's kiss. Oh, how I wish they could stay together! There's something really sick about the Bella-Edward relationship... but I still can't decide whether I'm Team Edward or Team Jacob. If it was only about the one single person, believe me, I'd be Team Jacob without any doubts. But for me it's about the consequences. I love the Cullens - all of them. I love Edward a bit less because he's too stubborn and he and Bella always only do what HE wants. But Esme as mother-in-law is an irresistible idea! ;) And I don't like the other werewolves much.

Looks:

I think I might be a little bit weird but I really like how Jasper looks now. What do you think about it? On the contrary, I don't like how Alice is getting smoother and smoother. I loved her in Twilight... But altogether I must say all the vampires looked both beautiful and scary, which thing I can't say about the previous two films (in Twilight they looked beautiful and in New Moon just scary).

And I love how Bella looks - Kristen Stewart is quite pretty, but they made her look divine! I don't know how they can make her look even more beautiful when Bella is a vampire...

Characters:

I'm absolutely in love with Emmett and Jacob and Charlie. But there's nothing to talk about.

I'm glad that at least some characters have reasons for their acting other than revenge or just being good and nice. Meaning Rosalie. Her story really touched me, she was one of my favourite characters since Twilight even if I didn't know why then. But there's something in her that makes you think she won't be just a proud Barbie.

And I was first really pissed off when I heard about Bryce Dallas Howard starring as Victoria instead of Rachelle Lefevre, but she did an amazing job! I was also pleased with Bree and Riley. I didn't think about them at all when I was reading the book but in the movie I really felt so sorry for them.

I'm sorry sorry sorry to say that again but Kristen Stewart ISN'T a good actress. My friend, who didn't read the book, got really angry at Bella, because she thought Bella didn't pity at all leaving Jacob because of Edward. In the book she did, but Kristen can't express it. My friend also noticed Bella being really sad and close to tears only when Edward said he wouldn't have sex with her until the wedding. And I had to explain a lot.

Altogether, I can't say I loved it, but it made a great impression on me. I was expecting something much much worse. Well done, it's thousand times better than New Moon!

First she posted about ponytails and asked what do we make with our hair on a bad hair day. So many people - including me - wrote that they make a messy bun, that she posted about it too. And now I'm asking you: what do you prefer? I myself prefer a messy bun but I'd wear ponytails more if it looked good on me.

Hold on, please. You have to be patient with me. I've just arrived home from Germany where I could merely write e-mails to my family. But in a few days I'll be able to post again. I'll show you what all I managed to purchase for only 50 Euro (I finally managed to buy a summer dress :)). I have almost no income of mine because I'm just a student but when I'll be working, I'll be a total shopaholic.
